(SACRAMENTO) –Today, Assemblymember Patrick O’Donnell (D – Long Beach) recognized local business owner Beth Leger and her San Pedro eatery, Bagels Galore, as the 70th District’s California Small Business of the Year. Bagels Galore, which has been serving customers since 1994, was presented with the award at a ceremony hosted by the California Small Business Association in Sacramento.
“Bagels Galore is not only famous for their delicious bagels and spreads, but a reputation of giving back to the community,” said Assemblymember O’Donnell. “Whether it is by donating bagels and gift cards for local school fundraisers, supporting local non-profits, or simply serving a great breakfast to their customers, Beth and her family take every opportunity to serve as model business owners.”
“I am grateful to Assemblymember O’Donnell for selecting Bagels Galore as Small Business of the Year. It is a great honor to be chosen out of all of the businesses in the district,” stated Leger. “We look forward to many more years of providing great food and contributing to the quality of life for the visitors and residents of San Pedro.”
California Small Business Day takes places each year so small business owners can connect with government agencies, elected officials and businesses that may help them succeed and grow. In order to receive recognition from Assemblymember O’Donnell, businesses must have a physical location within the 70th Assembly District, have been in business for at least two years and meet the SBA Small Business Size Standards. Nominations are submitted to the Assemblymember’s office by municipal and chamber of commerce staff, and by any business owner or resident within the district.
