(LONG BEACH) – Assemblymember Patrick O’Donnell (D-Long Beach) will host the annual Women of Distinction event next Friday, April 22, in recognition of women of the 70th Assembly District who go above and beyond for the community. Honorees were nominated by their colleagues in one of five categories – Arts, Business, Community Service, Education, and Health Services – and selected by Assemblymember O’Donnell for their extraordinary achievements.
“The leadership and dedication demonstrated by each of our honorees represents the very best of what our community has to offer,” said Assemblymember O’Donnell. “I am grateful for the opportunity to recognize the inspirational role these women play in the lives of others and express our appreciation for their invaluable contributions.”
The 2016 Women of Distinction Honorees are:
Laura Som McMillin
Assemblymember O’Donnell will also recognize his Woman of the Year, Chan Hopson, at the event. Ms. Hopson, a health and higher education advocate, joined Assemblymember O’Donnell on the Assembly Floor last month for the California State Assembly’s Woman of the Year ceremony.
