(SACRAMENTO) – Assemblymember Patrick O’Donnell (D – Long Beach) issued the following statement in support of school closures:

“As a parent, teacher and Chair of the Assembly Education Committee, ensuring the health and safety of our students, school staff and their families is my utmost priority,” said Assemblymember O’Donnell. “I strongly support the decision of school boards to close schools to limit community contact of COVID-19. My office will be in contact with state and local public health and education authorities to evaluate the impact the closures will have on students. We must ensure that students do not fall behind while we work together to manage this pandemic.”

Today, the two largest school districts in the state announced they will close to slow the spread of COVID-19. This follows state public health guidelines to limit large gatherings.
