Successful Distance Learning Crucial for Students’ Education

(Sacramento) - Assemblymember Patrick O’Donnell (D - Long Beach) issued the following statement in response to the Governor’s announcement that schools will remain closed for the rest of the academic year.

“It appears that our California students will not be returning to their school sites this year,” said Assemblymember O’Donnell, Chair of the Assembly Education Committee. “While this decision was likely inevitable, it is my hope that the state can now focus on supporting our teachers, students, and school communities in their efforts to provide distance learning and complete the academic year.”

“I applaud the teachers of California who are making this work and recognize that the state needs to do its part to support them,” said Assemblymember O’Donnell.

Assemblymember Patrick O’Donnell represents the 70th Assembly District, which includes Long Beach, Signal Hill, San Pedro and Catalina Island.
