Assemblymember O'Donnell Releases Statement on SB 2 Vote

For immediate release:

Assemblymember Patrick O’Donnell’s statement regarding his vote on SB 2:

“I fully support creating a process for the de-certification of police officers who abuse and betray the public trust. But I have significant concerns that SB 2 lacks due process, and is not consistent with the due process we ensure for other professions and union members across our state. I shared with the author that addressing this concern would have gained my support and likely the support of many others.

“Regardless of whether SB 2 is passed by the Senate and signed into law, I will continue to work with my colleagues to ensure California has a fair and just de-certification process. It’s important that all Californians have high levels of trust in the officers who are sworn to protect and serve our communities.”

Assemblymember Patrick O’Donnell represents the 70th Assembly District, which includes Long Beach, Signal Hill, San Pedro and Catalina Island.
