Pet Rescue and Adoption Act Saves Animal Lives, Millions of Dollars

(Sacramento) – Putting an end to inhumane puppy and kitten mills responsible for unhealthy animals and animal overpopulation is the idea behind Assemblymember Patrick O’Donnell’s (D-Long Beach) Assembly Bill 485. AB 485 requires all dogs, cats, and rabbits offered for retail sale in California pet stores to be obtained by an animal shelter or non-profit rescue organization. NBC7 Investigates reporter Ashley Matthews has been looking into the problem and tracking the legislation’s progress. Watch their stories in these Assembly Asset videos. http://www.asmdc.org/odonnell
